Description

Some necklaces are about the chain, some are about the pendant. This one refuses to choose. The Dew necklace hangs a three carat pear cut cubic zirconia from a strand of polished gold spheres, and the pairing is what makes it: the soft repetition of the ball chain, then one clean drop of light falling from it. Round after round after teardrop. It reads like punctuation, and the sentence is a good one.

Look closer at the pendant and there's a detail most solitaire necklaces skip. The bail, the little loop the pendant hangs from, is set with a line of tiny pavé stones, so the sparkle starts above the main stone and slides down into it. At roughly 17.5 millimetres tall from bail to tip, the whole drop has genuine presence at the collarbone without ever feeling heavy, and the minimal claws around the pear keep the gold almost invisible. The stone appears to simply hang there, catching light on every facet.

The ball chain earns its place too. It has a weight and a liquid drape that fine cable chains can't match, it never kinks or tangles in a jewellery dish, and it holds the pendant confidently front and centre rather than letting it wander.
